Temple Bruer 11th June 2025
12 members met at the St John the Baptist Church, Temple Bruer for a 5 mile walk led by Margaret Smith.
We set off on a fine dry morning, initially heading north along a well-defined track. We crossed Gorse Hill Lane and continued for a further ½ mile before turning left into a field. This continued to a track which passed a farm and reached a junction with the High Dike – also the old Ermine Street and now part of the Viking Way. Here we turned left and continued for some distance until reaching a left turn. The walk continued past Temple Bruer Glamping on the left and a grass airstrip on the right. The route took a slight right here
continuing to a left which took us back to the start point.
Southrey 10th July 2024
We assembled at the carpark next to the Southrey Railway Platform for a walk led by Chris & Margaret.
16 members set off along Ferry Lane turning right onto the footpath. We then turned left heading for Tupholme Abbey and the Horncastle Road. We then turned left towards Low Road Farm and the edge of Southrey Wood where we stopped for a break.
We then walked through the wood and headed towards the Sustrans and the River Witham, finishing our walk back at the carpark. The distance was 5.5 miles and the weather was mild and dry.
