Chair

I am Jane Haresign. I have been the Chair for the past 2 years.

My role on the committee is Chair. It is both interesting and enjoyable and certainly keeps me busy. I also enjoy being the convenor of the Games Group and Walking Cricket Group, as well as belonging to other interest groups. My hobbies are reading and word games, handbell ringing and line dancing.

I have been a member of Branston u3a for two years. I originally was interested in starting up a u3a in Metheringham but as Branston covered this area it seemed a good fit.

My role entails Chairing and coordinating Committee and General/Monthly Meetings amongst others.
In Conjunction with Secretary and Data Manager, I am responsible for producing AGM notifications and keeping apprised of Third Age Trust news/activities

Treasurer

Hi, I am Coral Earney, elected treasurer at this year’s AGM, 2025.
I joined this friendly U3A some years back, playing in the then Bridge group.
Branston and District U3A offers so many diverse interest groups and I currently enjoy meeting up with the regular five milers and tread the paths around Lincoln with this lively group.
As treasurer I am responsible for all things financial within our U3A.

I look forward to getting to know you all as I man the sign-in desk at monthly meetings.

Secretary

Hello I am Avril McDermott.
I am delighted to have received u3a members approval at the 2026 AGM to serve as secretary for 3 years. Having grown up in the West Midlands, I moved to Washingborough in 1982, and all these years later I am still living in the same house. I became fully retired at the end of August 2025 and now fill my days with a variety of activities. I enjoy walking and I am a member of both Branston u3a walking groups. I study Art History at the open university and enjoy attending the Art Appreciation group. I also enjoy gardening and can often be found attending to my own garden, although on Mondays I volunteer in the Kitchen Garden at Doddington Hall.

Groups Coordinator

Hi, my name is Chris Skilbeck and I am the Groups Coordinator. I moved to Metheringham at the end of 2019 after living in the Scottish highlands for 12 years and joined Branston U3A in 2022. At the end of 2024 I volunteered to take over the role of Groups Coordinator and at the monthly meetings you will find me at the back of the hall with details of the various groups available.  My job is to liaise between members and the various groups Convenors.

Members Secretary

I am Robert Waltz. I have been a member of Branston u3a for a number of years taking on the role of Membership Secretary for the past 4 years.

I am responsible for adding new members to our database, issuing Membership Application Forms and passing fees to the Treasurer. Once a year I am responsible for members' renewals.

You can find me every month at the meeting sitting next to the Treasurer, membership applications in hand.

Programme Secretary

I am Nick Dawes and I'm the Programme Secretary, responsible for liaising with and booking speakers for the monthly meetings and other events as decided by the committee. The idea is to have a varied selection throughout the year, and potentially cajole and encourage willing u3a members to share their knowledge and interests by speaking at a monthly meeting themselves. I've lived in locally since 1994, and retired some years ago to travel and fulfil a passion to write. Like most folk, I appear to be busier than when I actually worked for a living. Away from travelling, I enjoy cooking, visiting pubs, fiddling with old cars (Triumphs especially), mending old bicycles and photographing graffiti.
