The instrument fills a gap in the market for an inexpensive, durable and lightweight handbell type instrument. Due to these qualities they have been used preferentially to handbells in schools and with elderly or disabled musicians.
Belleplates are not used as a professional instrument, however they blend with handbells and related instruments, allowing them to be used in a concert setting to provide a contrasting melody.
We meet at the Pavilion, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 2pm to 3.30pm. The cost is £2 each.
"The aim of the group, working as a team, is to learn to play familiar tunes using colour coded music. The benefits are improved memory, concentration and co-ordination and having a lot of fun.
