The Latin group has been meeting for many years now, so is not suitable for beginners.

As a group we began to learn Latin "ab initio", we now have progressed to reading simple Latin texts, tackling new vocabulary and grammar as we meet it. We often have light-bulb moments when we see how Latin has shaped the English language, with occasional diversions into French, Spanish and Italian.

We meet at the Sports Pavilion on Moor Lane, Branston. Meetings currently last 1.5 hours, with approximately the first hour spent studying a simple text or texts in Latin, followed by about half-an-hour looking at some aspect of Roman history or culture, to which all members are expected to contribute.

So if you did Latin in school and want to knock the rust off your memories, or if you're interested in Roman history, please come along and join us!
