We initially met at Pennells at Silk Willoughby and were greeted with a heavy sharp shower. After sorting out lifts in cars - the car park at Culverthorpe is quite small - we drove to the free car park close to the lakes at Culverthorpe.

9 walkers set out on a walk lead by Jean. By this time the rain had stopped and we had a mix of sun, cloud and light rain throughout our walk. On leaving the car park we walked over the bridge between two lakes towards the Hall then took a left and followed the track leading to Heydour.

The walk continued until meeting a road at the church. After a few yards we took a left onto another track which eventually met the road again and lead to Oasby.

Passing through the village we continued on the road whichtook us back to Heydour church.

We had a short refreshment break here then retraced our steps on the track we'd walked earlier but continued in a northerly direction rather than return to the start point.

We continued on tracks which brought us round to Culverthorpe and to the car park.

The walk was about 5 1/4 miles in a figure of eight which gave the opportunity to cut the walk short if the weather had deteriorated.

The walk was interesting, varied countryside and through villages with attractive locally-sourced stone buildings.

We then drove to Pennells where 5 walkers stayed for lunch.
